Catching up on SBU Softball
Sorry folks, I have not been able to blog lately...just been too busy. The weather is rotten and it has kept me busy. We have had 6 games since we last communicated and we came out 3-3 against some quality teams. At least we finally had our first home games verses Charlotte! Yep...you guessed it, it rained most of the day not to mention the sleet and snow before hand.
Our lastest results...
SBU 8, Canisius 6...Canisius 9, SBU 8
SBU 7, Robert Morris 3...Robert Morris 12, SBU 9 (darkness shortened)
Charlotte 1, SBU 0...SBU 6, Charlotte 3 (rain shortened)
Our record stands at 11-18 and 6-10 in the Atlantic 10. It's not where we want to be but I must admit that I like watching this team play. We can hit one out of the park on any swing and we have made some amazing defensive plays. The pitching staff is really starting to hit a stride. Jen Sansano and Diana Phalon have both thrown outstanding games.
Our leading hitters...
Brooke Frey .341 8 doubles, 4 homeruns 16 RBI
Maureen Wells .338 4 doubles 6 homeruns 25 RBI
Ashley Snider .319 7 doubles 1 triple 9 homeruns 21 RBI
We have slugged 30 homeruns on the year. I am almost sure (I will check the records) that is a new program record. We are ranked in the top 30 teams on a NATIONAL scale in homeruns per game.
Our remaining games...ALL at SBU

SBU vs Umass Post Games Report
Umass 1 - SBU 0 : Diana Phalon 4-hit complete game. Her best outing at the Division I level. I admire her toughness and her willingness to stick with her teammates even as we struggled at the plate.
Umass 7 - SBU 1: Lindsay Stowell broke up our 12 inning hitless streak with a solid linedrive to center field in the 6th inning. Maureen Wells added an RBI single to right to knock home our lone run of the day.

Dayton Post Game Report
The Bonnies played two home games at Kent State this weekend vs A10 conference foe, the University of Dayton. McGraw-Jennings Field is still so wet that the Lacrosse team can't even play on their GRASS field.
The Flyers and Bonnies came out swinging as I expected. Both teams are swinging well right now but I was really impressed with the Bonnies composure for most of the doubleheader. There was never a time that I did not think we could win both games. Our seniors, Maureen Wells and Kara Morenus stayed red hot at the plate with Moe going 4-7 with a homer and 7 RBI on the day. Kara also put up four hits.
Sophomore Jessenia Andujar hit a pair of homeruns. Sophomore Hali Enderby hit a three run pinch hit homer in game two in a monster situation and Junior Brooke Frey added a homerun on the day.
The defense played better but not yet up to SBU standards. We are becoming more confident out there but we MUST keep being aggressive on ground balls. Jen Sansano had a up and down day but finished game one with 4 scoreless innings. We will need to improve in every area from here on out. We have a big weekend ahead against Rhode Island and defending A10 champions Umass. I am excited for the opportunity!
GO BONAS!

Dayton Games now moved to Sunday
Our Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader verses Dayton is now scheduled for a 12:00pm start on SUNDAY on the campus of Kent State University. The team is being very patient with the weather. Not much else we can atually do but to wait for this weather patter to change. I just hope it changes soon.
